Description

Tsinghua University professor and former Dean of its School of Economics and Management Yingyi Qian will discuss the evolution of China's universities since 1978, especially since 1998, and will examine their strengths and weaknesses according to major global rankings and the challenges they face in the future.

Yingyi Qian stepped down from his deanship at Tsinghua University School of Economics and Management after twelves years of distinguished service. He is now the Professor of Economics and Distinguished Professor of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. Qian received his Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University and has taught at Stanford, University of Maryland and University of California, Berkeley before his return to China.
