Event description

Join 90+ chili tastetesters, cornbread bakers, and competitive chefs for an afternoon of dueling spoons! This year, the event's 6th, we celebrate Citizen Teachers, Teaching Fellows, and the Citizen Schools community.

Bring an empty stomach and have cash on hand to enter into raffles for fabulous prizes. All proceeds go directly to Citizen Schools MA.

If you plan to compete in the cookoff or want to volunteer, please sign up here (optional).

We will select the winners in 5 categories:

Do I have to cook? Does registering guarantee me entry to Aeronaut?

No, you don't have to cook. Registering does not guarantee you entry to Aeronaut. This event will not be closing down Aeronaut to the general public; in the event Aeronaut hits its maximum capacity (it happened last year), you'll have to wait in line at the door.

Register online beforehand or onsite to participate - and show up early and ready to (stomach) rumble!

You can register at the event, but doing so ahead of time helps us and Aeronaut a lot. Registration is totally free. There will be a suggested donation to go with a prize raffle.

What is Citizen Schools?

Citizen Schools is a national nonprofit organization that partners with middle schools to expand the learning day for children in low-income communities. Citizen Schools mobilizes a team of AmeriCorps educators and volunteer “Citizen Teachers” to teach real-world learning projects and provide academic support in order to help all students discover and achieve their dreams. For example, software engineers teach our students how to code, and lawyers guide our kids through Mock Trial at the Joseph Moakley Courthouse.

Today, Citizen Schools Massachusetts enrolls nearly 2,000 students in Somerville and Boston. Approximately 70% of our students speak a first language other than English, 17% are students with diagnosed disabilities, 95% identify as minorities, and 54% are defined as Economically Disadvantaged. Many of these students have significant challenges, both in and out of school, to overcome to meet their educational goals. Citizen Schools’ program is designed specifically to address the “opportunity gap” and meet the needs of the students we serve. Join us as we help all students discover and achieve their dreams. Click here for Google Maps directions to the lot." We can't guarantee a parking spot, however. Also, it looks like the Dane Street lot might have reopened as well. Please respect signage!
