CHILDREN OF THE WIND: The Jewish immigrant experience and the musical Rags

Thursday, September 7, 2017 • 7:00pm

Mandell JCC, 335 Bloomfield Avenue, West Hartford, CT

Join us for a lively discussion about Jewish immigrants to America in the early 1900s and their determination to rise above the sweatshop squalor to create the most productive and politically free Jewish Community of all time. Led by Goodspeed Founding Director, Michael Price, the panel will discuss immigration from a historical perspective and as portrayed in Goodspeed’s upcoming musical Rags. Set during this period, Rags focuses on a young Jewish mother and son fleeing the pogroms to find a better life in America.

Admission is free, but advance registration is requested.

Speakers:

Michael P. Price Founding Director, Goodspeed Musicals

Dr. Ronald W. Schatz Professor of History, Center for Jewish Studies, Wesleyan University
