Description

This course will help social workers feel more confident in the diagnosis and treatment of children with a mental illness. DSMV diagnostic criteria will be reviewed. It will provide a brief review of diagnosis that respond well to medications and help participants to understand the differences between medication classes.  It will review mechanisms of actions, indications, side effects and efficacy.  It will also teach learning techniques to help organize different classes of medications as well as strategies to help learn and remember mechanisms of actions and side effects.

Target audience: beginners level

Objectives: Social Workers will memorize the 5 classifications of psychotropic medications and will be able to explain:

  • symptoms the 5 classifications of psychotropic medication treat
  • the side effects assisted with each of the 5 classification psychotropic medication
