Event description

Description

A FREE Community based workshop

This workshop will focus on the joint parent/Speech-Language Pathologist journey when a child is diagnosed with and treated for childhood apraxia of speech. Each stage of the journey brings its own challenges. Considerations for how to approach the diagnosis of childhood apraxia of speech and how to determine best treatment options will be discussed. We will walk through the journey of therapy with video examples to enhance the learning and highlight therapy ideas, home practice facilitation and teacher involvement. Co-occurring conditions will be outlined along with how they add to the hurdles that must be faced beyond the speech and language needs of the child.

Childcare is not provided

Speaker: David W Hammer, MA CCC-SLP, Vice President of Programs at Apraxia Kids
