Designed for both first time mothers as well as experienced mothers. This class increases a woman's confidence and commitment to breast-feeding her baby. A certified Lactation Specialist/Registered Nurse provides information about prenatal preparation, positioning and latch-on, the prevention of nipple trauma and ways to prevent breast engorgement. Also provided in the course are resources available regarding our Lactation Educators who will make rounds daily to assist with breast-feeding during your hospital stay as well as continued support during the first year of your baby's life. Be sure to bring a doll or stuffed animal to class. A support partner is Strongly encouraged to attend with you.
A non-refundable payment of $20.00 per couple is required at the time of registration. If you have Medicaid Health Insurance coverage, they may pay for this class. If you are a member of the Nurse-Family Partnership Program, please call the Education office at (801) 807-7093 for the Discount Code when registering. You will need to bring a copy of your insurance card to class.
