Childbirth Education Class

CLASS SERIES DESCRIPTION

Class 1 Pregnancy Review, Labor pain and pain theories, signs of labor, Stages of Labor, Comfort measures, labor positions,

Class 2 Birth plans, medical interventions during labor, pain relief including natural pain relief measures, medications and epidurals, Cesarean Birth and a Review of Breathing and Relaxation

Class 3 Comfort Measures- ‘hands on’ measures for coping with labor, includes extensive practice with breathing and relaxation exercises.

Parent Primer-- discussion of physical and emotional changes for mothers and fathers

Followed by a Tour of Labor & Delivery and a car seat check by a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician

Class 4 Infant CPR 6:00pm-7pm

Followed by Newborn Class discussion of normal newborn characteristics, newborn nursery procedures, general newborn care and feeding.

Class 5 Breastfeeding Class all the ‘why to’ and ‘how to’ you need to know about breastfeeding

All classes are from 6:30-8:30 pm (except the Infant CPR Class which begins at 6:00pm)

All classes are FREE and are held in the Annex I Classroom located behind the hospital
