Event description

Description

The child stimulation workshop was born out of a partnesrship between The Cradle and The Business of Play with a common shared goal of educating the caregivers to raise the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs in Uganda. Capitalizing on the most crucial years of cognitive development, ages 0-5, our shared goal is to change the face of early childhood development in Uganda through free educational workshops.

Instead of leaving a child to entertain themselves or merely play outside with peers, we are educating the care givers and parents on the importance of stimulating children's brain developement by interacting with children through speaking, reading, singing and playing.

Have you ever wondered what you as a parent, caregiver or nanny can do to help the children in your care reach their greatest potential in life? Research has proven that the first five years are foundational to preparing a person for a successful life. What we do with children in those first years sets the stage not only for the child’s success, but the next generation’s future as a whole.

The Cradle in partnership with The Business of Play aims to teach caregivers how to stimulate a child’s vocabulary, creativity and problem solving skills through simple interactions with their caregivers called serve and return play. Caregivers will learn researched techniques to foster learning, connection, curiosity and a rapidly expanding vocabulary which in turn leads to accelerated neurological and academic growth for years to come.

We welcome one registered adult per child, with 100 adult seats and 100 child seats available. Children between the ages of 2-5 will enjoy stimulating activities while adults learn the techniques to continue them at home.
