Child sexual exploitation (CSE) and grooming (East Sussex secondary schools...

This one-day course is for RSE teachers, support staff and PSHE leads and supports teaching about CSE and grooming as part of a planned programme of Relationships and Sex Education.
Participants will engage with local and national evidence to understand how CSE happens, the profiles of victims and perpetrarotrs and what can be done to prevent it. The session will be interactive, with opportunities to explore a range of resources and techniques for addressing CSE and grooming in the classroom and for taking a preventative approach which addresses the needs of all children and young people.
The course will be delivered in partnership with the WiSE Project who work with children and young people in East Sussex who are victims of, or at risk of, CSE. Evidence from the WiSE project will be used to ensure practice is up to date and relevant to the needs of children and young people in East Sussex schools.
- Clear understanding of local and national evidence in relation to CSE and grooming
- Awareness of key factors influencing incidence of CSE in East Sussex
- Knowledge of resources to support teaching and learning about CSE/grooming in RSE
- Practical understanding of how to address CSE in the classroom and techniques for facilitating discussion
