Event description
Want to learn more about what you can do as a CASA to prevent child sex trafficking in our state?

About this Event

Back by popular demand! Join VOICES and fellow CASA, Tom Allen, in learning about child sex trafficking right here in Arizona. PBS Frontline's reporters embedded with the Phoenix Police Department’s HEaT (Human Exploitation and Trafficking) Squad in collaboration with ASU's School of Social Work and the Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention and Research to educate and bring awareness to this crisis and this training will allow for CASAs to see their undercover footage of child sex trafficking. The Juvenile Court has seen an influx of cases that include victims of sex trafficking that require specialized knowledge, an effective team, and an advocate that understands what is in the child’s best interest under the circumstances and the complex trauma that impacts the youth. This training hopes to prompt CASAs to want to learn more about what child sex trafficking is, how to recognize it, and what you can do if you suspect your CASA kid has been sex trafficked.

* Note: this training was also held on August 9, 2019 at VOICES
