ChickTech Arduino Workshop
Event Information
Description
Join us for some Arduino fun!
Have you ever wanted to automate anything to make your life easier? Feed your cats while you're not home? Close the blinds during a nap? Make a homemade car alarm? An Arduino can help!
When?
Wednesday, Nov 20, 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Thursday, Nov 21, 5:30pm - 8:30pm
Do I need to be a programmer?
You can be, but it's not necessary. We will work together, to get you a working project by the end of the 2 evenings. We want you to have a working project so we can meet up an edit and build on it in the future.
What do I need to bring?
You. Your excitement for tech! Your laptop. If you do not have a laptop, please let us know.
More Details
In this workshop, you will get to work with (and keep!) your own Arduino board. You will experience first hand what it’s truly capable of doing! We’ll connect different kinds of sensors, indicators, and LEDs to it to make an interactive and completely custom project.
Armed with your new Arduino, after this workshop, you will have new skills and knoweldge to create any number of projects. These boards can be used to create everything from just-for-fun projects (light up a string of lights everytime you receive a tweet) to practical & useful projects (create an LED turn signal bike jacket). The possibilities are endless!
Already have an Arduino board, or a similar microcontroller, but aren't exactly sure what it can do?Come join us! Not only are we offering discounted tickets for attendees who bring their own boards, but you can come learn fun, basic projects that use your microcontroller. Full cost covers hardware and food for both evening; BYOB option covers only the cost of food. Please email info@chicktech.org if you need a scholarship or childcare during the event. Please note that in order to further our mission, this event is focused on those who identify as women (or girls) 15+.
We have 30 spots available for this workshop. Sign up ASAP before we sell out!
