Event Description
River City Chickens presents "Chickens 101", an informative workshop for anyone interested in keeping backyard hens. Topics include:
• Municipal, Provincial and Federal requirements
• Coop design and requirements
• Feeding and care
• Winter needs and concerns
• Breed selection, buying hens, and flock introductions
• Predator and vermin prevention
• Waste management
• Disease recognition and control
• End of life options
• Biosecurity
and many other tips and resources for keeping hens in Edmonton.
There will be plenty of time included for questions, discussion and meeting other chicken enthusiasts!
A certificate of participation will be provided. This is acceptable as proof of training when applying for a City of Edmonton urban hens licence.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
We recommend that children be of an appropriate age to remain focussed for the duration of the session. All attendees require their own ticket.
What is the refund policy?
No refunds are available.
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
The name on the ticket must match that of the attendee in order to receive a certificate of participation (required for applying for an urban hen licence from the City of Edmonton).
