A charming comedy about four male friends that will try literally anything to save their favorite local pub from closing down. After brainstorming through ideas, the group decides to write a chick lit, or more specifically a 'mummy porn' novel following the huge success of Fifty Shades of Gray. Soon after, the novel gets picked up! Now, the only problem is that the publisher insists that the young, 'female' author does press and publicity. Desperate to keep their involvement a secret, the four guys hire an out of work actress to role play the part of the author. This leads to her becoming the star in the film adaptation of the book and turns the tables on the guys as she is now the one in control - leaving them with the awful prospect of having to secretly churn out sex novels for the foreseeable future.
Far from a film just for the girls, Chick Lit is equally aimed at male audiences, especially those who have ever wondered at the appeal of hugely successful erotic novels like E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey. This is exactly the situation, after all, that local newspaper editor David (Christian McKay) finds himself in at the opening of the movie: he is astonished at the rate which his highly educated wife Jen (Caroline Catz) devours them, which leads to the idea of creating one himself, along with his friends, in order to raise funds to save their local pub from closure.
The Boat screening is offering a premiere-styled evening, with a bit of glitz and glamour. If you don’t fancy dressing up, simply come along and ogle from the sidelines and decide for yourself which of the local glitterati is the best dressed!
This Cairngorms premiere of Chick Lit takes place at Boat of Garten Community Hall on Friday 30th September. Doors open at 6.45pm, film starts at 7:30pm.
