Chicago's Big Sleep Out - Indoor Program
Event Information
About this Event
On December 7, 2019, Chicago joins more than 50 cities around the world in a global “Sleep Out” to raise awareness and funds for local and international organizations serving people who are homeless and displaced. DePaul University’s Institute of Global Homelessness will be hosting Chicago’s Sleep Out at the Lincoln Park Campus.
This indoor program portion will kick off the World's Big Sleep Out in Chicago, and is open to the community and all Sleep Out participants! If you are interested in attending the free indoor program portion of the event from 7pm-9pm, you're in the right place - please register through this Eventbrite page. We are asking all attendees to consider a contribution of $20 or more.
More than 100 people have already registered to sleep out on DePaul's Quad and fundraise for local and international groups fighting homelessness. If you are interested in participating in the full sleep out, you can email chicago@bigsleepout.com to be added to the list.
The event will center on the voices and experiences of people who have been homeless through story-telling and testimonials, and an original dance performance by Trifecta Dance Collective. Frank Turner, a punk and folk-singer and songwriter from the U.K., will perform an acoustic set around 7:45pm. We will also have images and video streams from other Sleep Outs around the world. You won't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event!
