Chicago Veterans Ruck March: 2017
Fri, May 26, 2017, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CDT
Chicago Veterans 4th annual Ruck March!
Last year over 1,200 veterans, family members & supporters, laced up their boots and strapped on their rucks to march 22 Miles to honor and remember those we lost at home and on the battle field.
A new study released this year shows the number of veteran suicides have dropped from 22 to 20 veterans a day. What we and other organizations are doing collectively is making a difference! And we will continue our efforts to do so. So on Friday, May 26, 2017, we will once again be hosting our annual ruck march. This year we will be rucking 20 miles!
Together let's raise awareness of veteran suicide and help end this epidemic. If you’re as passionate about our cause as we are, we encourage you to create a fundraising page, volunteer for the event, sign up for the ruck march, or if you're up for it, do all three! This will be an amazing and emotional event we know you will be proud of.
Awareness is great.. but action is better!
Please help support Chicago Veterans by creating your very own fundraising page: http://bit.ly/2iX0LYJ
Our goal is to honor our fallen brothers and sisters and raise as much awareness as possible of PTSD and Veteran suicide through a patriotic 20 mile ruckmMarch, carrying 20+ pound rucks. The march kicks off at 8am sharp!

If you would like to make a donation please visit: http://bit.ly/2iX0LYJ
WHAT TIME IS CHECK IN AND WHAT CAN I EXPECT?
Check in will begin as early as 6:30am, with the event starting at 8am. You do not need to print your registration ticket (let's save paper!), Simply visit the check-in table and show your eTicket on your mobile phone or give your name.
HOW DO I GET THERE? PARKING?
Parking is very limited, our first suggestion is to have someone drop you off. There is also a Glencoe Metra Station nearby if you wish to take the train.
APPROXIMATELY WHAT TIME WILL THE RUCK MARCH END? CAN FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEET US?
We all walk at different paces so it's important that you let your friends and family know what time you'll be arriving. The majority of the participants will arrive between 3PM- 4PM.
Lunch will be provided for all participants and volunteers at Centennial Park in Evanston.
DO I REALLY NEED TO CARRY 20 POUNDS?
The weight in the rucksack signifies the emotional and physical weight carried by our fallen. It is up to you how much you would like to carry. You can carry as much or as little as you can.
ANYTHING ELSE I NEED TO KNOW?
We highly recommend you start training as early as possible. Not everyone who participates finishes! Cut your toe nails, prep for chafing, use broken-in boots/shoes, moleskin, band aids, bring extra socks and HYDRATE! It is also extremely important that you obey all traffic signs. We also suggest carrying an extra phone battery pack just in case your phone dies.
If you have any questions or if we missed something please do not hesitate in contacting us at 312-450-3160 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing everyone at the starting point on Friday, May 26, 2017!
