Chicago Psych Fest 10 - Thursday
Event Information
About this Event
The longest-running festival of psychedelia in Chicago turns 10 years old and is celebrating with a 3-DAY BLOWOUT featuring some of the highlights from the years, special collaborative sets, re-unity, and fresh faces.
Mako Sica + Hamid Drake - Website
The trio of Mako Sica have always created waves of expansive sound that veer into rock, jazz, experimental soundscapes and places unknown--and with famed jazz/world percussionist Hamid Drake (who has worked with trumpeter Don Cherry, pianist Herbie Hancock, saxophonists Pharoah Sanders and Fred Anderson), there is nowhere this transcendent 4 piece collab can't go.
Good Willsmith - Bandcamp
Formed in 2012, this trio features Natalie Chami aka TALsounds, and uses dark synths and other processed sonics to create abstract yet structured voyages that meld noise, drone and new age sensibilities.
McLuhan - Reader Preview
An extremely rare performance by this obscure Windy City prog/psych/jazz rock group, who released only one sought after Lp in 1972, "Anomaly." For the first time ever, McLuhan will be playing the entire Lp live, featuring 3 original members augmented by a full horn section!
Wet Piss - Bandcamp
This psych-punk quartet channels the minimal pulse of krautrock bands like La Dusseldorf, adding a full-on spacerock thrust ala Hawkwind, and then heaping on their own unique irreverent attitude (and skin tight outfits) to the proceedings...
