Event description

Description

How would you benefit from having your own personal board of directors to help you solve your most pressing professional challenges going into 2018?

If you are currently employed as a human resources practitioner, this is your opportunity to find out... and earn SHRM Professional Development Credits (PDCs) along the way!

This program is valid for 4.0 PDCs for the SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM.

Mastermind groups continue to gain in popularity among individuals and organizations that are motivated to perform at the highest levels.

Larger groups often exist to educate members on the value of a Mastermind, while providing them with an opportunity to experience its defining factor, the hot seat.

However, the most common iteration of a Mastermind group is one with fewer members, more frequent meetings, and the ongoing accountability that only an intimate cohort of your peers can foster.

Members soon find that MY problem is actually OUR problem. It need not be solved in isolation, nor considered a burden to others.

The Chicago HR Mastermind (CHRM) is excited to pilot its first-ever 4-week cohort made up entirely of HR practitioners looking to expand networks, solve challenges, and support one another's personal and professional growth.

As an added benefit, each member will receive an Everything DiSC personality assessment and 30 minutes of 1:1 coaching to gain further insight into workplace tendencies and preferences.

Check out the FAQs below and consider what membership in a group like this could do for your career.

We'd love to reserve a seat at the table for you!

FAQ

What is the value of the Chicago HR Mastermind Practitioner Cohort to members?

* 4.0 SHRM Professional Development Credits (i.e., 1.0 PDC per meeting)
* DiSC personality assessment + 1:1 coaching to debrief results

* intimate group of like-minded strategic thinkers
* regular weekly meetings to reinforce connection, trust, and progress
* confidential hot seat conversations focused around issues common to HR practitioners
* accountability partnership to support stated goals
* facilitator-led discussion to ensure equal participation
* personal and professional growth that positions members for continued career success

Who is eligible for CHRM Cohort membership?

Only currently employed HR practitioners (i.e., generalist, talent acquisition, talent development, etc.) are eligible to participate in the pilot cohort. For this pilot, there are no further requirements with regard to title, specialty, or years of relevant experience.

Just any ol' HR practitioner?

Not exactly. We're looking for motivated, high-performing folks who embraces diversity of experience, perspective, and expertise. Members will be uniquely committed to serving others, invested in their own development, and eager to contribute actively to meaningful, productive dialogue.

How small will the pilot cohort be?

The pilot cohort will be limited to only 8 members.

When and where will the pilot cohort meet?

The pilot cohort will meet on four Tuesday evenings from January 23 through February 13, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at C+R Research located at 500 North Michigan Avenue, Suite 1100, in Chicago.

Is there an attendance policy?

Yes. Members must commit to attending all four meetings, as each person is critical to the overall success of the group.

What is the hot seat?

The hot seat provides an opportunity for a member to present a concise, work-related challenge to the group on which he/she could use feedback. An example might include, "How do I establish a culture of continuous feedback?" or "What are the best ways to engage employees in the face of budget cuts and layoffs?" The group then spends a pre-determined amount of time asking questions, offering advice, and suggesting resources to help the person in the hot seat solve his/her problem.

What will meetings entail?

Each meeting will include two 30-minute hot seat conversations. The first 30 minutes of the initial meeting will feature introductions and an overview of what members can anticipate going forward. Members will spend the first 30 minutes of subsequent meetings updating the group on progress made since the last meeting. Each member will present one hot seat challenge over the course of the four weeks, and all hot seat challenges will be distributed prior to being presented at meetings so that members may arrive prepared for a productive conversation.

Will my employer reimburse my registration fee?

It certainly doesn't hurt to ask! Many employers reimburse employees for professional development experience pursued outside of the workplace, especially when benefits include networking and focused problem solving that benefits both the employee and the organization.

NOTE: All members will be required to sign an acknowledgement regarding the confidential nature of information shared during meetings.
