About this event

On August 11th, Chicago Debates is hosting a free in-person opportunity for you to see what we do. Join us at Whitney Young High School to experience the impact of two transformative programs - Debate and Speech.

You will have an opportunity to learn more about Chicago Debates, meet the Executive Director, hear about ways you can get involved, and most importantly see debate and our new speech program in action. You will be sure to leave this experience inspired and a believer in the power of speech and debate to change lives!

About Chicago Debates:

Chicago Debates is bridging the educational opportunity gap for Chicago Public School (CPS) students by providing them with an after-school program that supports their academic, career, and leadership success. We partner with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) to provide 1200+ 6th to 12th grade students with opportunities to cultivate academic, social-emotional, career, and leadership skills that will help them to be successful in life. Debate has been found to promote students' school, civic, and social engagement, lead to significant gains in GPA, improves ACT scores, and debaters are three times less likely to drop out of high school and 80% more likely to graduate college.
