Chiaroscuro: an Ecstatic Dance with Duality

This event is in an old church without A/C -- there will be plenty of fans to circulate air, ice to dunk your head in, spray bottles, and water to drink. But make sure you dress appropriately and bring your own water bottle!

The more one embraces ecstatic dance, the more they might approach life itself as a dance. So much of what we tend with, care for, ponder, and experience in life is this dance between what seems to be opposing forces that live within us.

Dance brings this flow in the balancing of our lives. It becomes an energetic approach to the acknowledgment of the multitude of parts that make us up as whole human beings.

Let's engage with that consciously as a community with an extended playful/contemplative embodiment practice to start the event off. Followed by some hard pivots and juxtaposition in eclectic musical mash-ups, with tracks from a multitude of genres that evoke powerful emotional catharsis masterfully blended in a set crafted by DJ & Ecstatic Dance facilitator HP Tellem.

"Chiaroscuro" is an italian word that translates to "light-dark" -- we will embrace both light and darkness with a loving heart; honoring the shadow while celebrating the brightness.

Let's dance with our contradictions, our juxtaposition, and our duality. Let's witness each other and help each other release as the evening unfolds. Let's hold each other in all that comes forth.

To close out the evening: Support from the Crystal Ashram with their ancient Tibetan singing bowls and other vibrational frequency instruments to bring us back to center.
