More about the Chesapeake Conservation Corps :
"The Chesapeake Conservation Corps prepares young adults to become better professionals and leaders for careers in the green workforce; promotes and protects the local natural resources throughout the Chesapeake Bay region; expands the impact and reach of organizations advancing environmental issues; and increases the diversity and influx of young talent into the green workforce across the Chesapeake Bay.
Each year, the Corps places young adults (ages 18-25) with nonprofit organizations or government agencies to work fulltime in the environmental field for a one-year term of paid service. The Corps provides young professionals with real-world experience managing projects and programs, leadership and professional development training, mentorship, and other skill-building opportunities such as grant writing and networking. Positions offered by host organizations are in the fields of environmental restoration, community engagement, environmental education, sustainable agriculture, energy conservation, and forestry.
Corps Members also develop meaningful connections and friendships with each other creating a network of young environmental professionals that is a powerful resource even after the yearlong term. Ultimately the Corps Program aims to empower young professionals to take action and make impactful change as leaders and experts in their respective career fields."
