Description

5PM - Chelsea Farms To Table | The 2019 Family Dinner

For this year’s curated Festival Dinner, we have partnered with Outstanding in the Field, a roving culinary adventure, to create a one-night-only outdoor dinner held on the stunning grounds of The General Theological Seminary. Set between the soil and the sky, our guests will experience a thoughtful, three-course sit-down dinner designed to reconnect them to the land and the origins of their food, and to honor the local farmers and food artisans who cultivate it.

Beautifully resonating with Clara Schumann’s lifestyle of communal exchange and sharing, the Festival Dinner invites patrons to sit side-by-side with local foodies, winemakers, composers and musicians for a meal prepared by celebrated Chef Silvia Barban of LaRina Pastificio e Vino. We welcome you to join us for dinner under the skies in the heart of Chelsea’s Historic District before heading to the evening’s concert in the Seminary’s breathtaking chapel (concert included with dinner ticket).

Sponsored in part by Lauren & John Browning

7:30PM - Clara and the Clear Skies

The General Theological Seminary Chapel acoustically thrives on music for voices and strings, and tonight’s performance showcases the hallowed space with our two Festival sopranos as well as string masterworks by Clara’s confidants and colleagues, Mendelssohn and Brahms. Guests will also witness the World Premiere performances of two 2019 Festival Commissions by Augusta Read Thomas and Santa Ratniece as they come and gather in this Manhattan oasis.

Click here to hear one of our Clara Schumann Ten composers, Augusta Read Thomas, who the New York Magazine describes as a “"a true virtuoso composer” discuss her process of composition and again here for a sampling of her bold, passionate music.
