About this Event

Come join us for a story that begins with Henry VII, weaves in the Catholic church, meanders through nobility, inheritance, two world wars and a whole lot of perseverance. We'll eat and drink, too.

Mary Quicke bears the torch of 14 generations of cheesemakers before her. Her family has worked the same land since 1540, when her ancestor inherited a large parcel of land. The Quickes play a small but particular role in British history and take their responsibility seriously. "We are committed to doing right by our land and have been doing so for 500 years - by respecting those who have farmed it before us, and preserving it for those who will continue to do so in the future."

Poppy Bethell Vickers, Quicke's US Export Manager, spends an evening with us to share the whole Quicke's story, from its inception to its survival and determination. Along the way we'll learn about Cheddaring, territorial cheeses, the struggle to keep traditional British cheeses in production and what differentiates traditional styles from contemporary. A guaranteed delicious learning experience for all.
