We’re pleased to welcome back Sherra Babcock for what has become an annual event at Bookstore1—her presentation of the upcoming literary season for the Chautauqua Institution in western New York State. Babcock is vice president for education at the Chautauqua Institution and holds the Emily and Richard Smucker Chair for Education (yes….those Smuckers). Each year she offers her insight to the authors who will be presenting their books at Chautauqua, whether they will be main platform speakers, Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle select authors or workshop leaders at the Literary Arts Center.
Why is this of interest all the way here in Southwest Florida? Because many Sarasotans have summer homes in Chautauqua and many more visit—or are planning a visit—in the near future. This event includes the added benefit of offering an opportunity for people to ask general questions about the Chautauqua Institution’s summer offerings which include: symphony, dance, theater, opera, fine arts, literary arts, religious discussions and more in a beautiful lakeside community which also boasts wonderful boating, fishing, swimming, tennis and golf. To learn more about the Chautauqua Institution go to www.ciweb.org.
We recommend you RSVP for this event—at least if you’d like a seat.
