Chattanooga Welcomes Bruce Katz + Jeremy Nowak

Chattanoooga is pleased to welcome Bruce Katz, Centennial Scholar at the Brookings Institution and Jeremy Nowak from the Drexel University Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation to Chattanooga to sign copies of their new book, “The New Localism: How Cities Can Thrive in the Age of Populism”.

The Enterprise Center and the City of Chattanooga will be hosting Bruce and Jeremy on a Chattanooga stop of their book tour on January 29, 2018. We hope you will be able to join us at the Edney Innovation Center at these times:

4:30-5:30pm Book Signing

5:30-5:45pm Bruce Katz remarks

5:50-6:30pm Panel discussion with Katz, Nowak, and Mayor Berke about their ideas and their relevance to our urban area, moderated by Marcus Shaw of CO.LAB.

"The New Localism" coauthored by Jeremy Nowak at the Drexel University Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation, focuses on how emerging models of governance and partnerships at the local level are forging solutions to a full range of urban challenges. Chattanooga’s example is noted, along with Pittsburg, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Copenhagen.

ABOUT BRUCE KATZ. Bruce Katz, Centennial Scholar at the Brookings Institution, where he focuses on the challenges and opportunities of global urbanization. He has long been a fan of our mid-sized city’s creative and innovative approaches to the opportunities and challenges of remaining competitive in a changing world economy. His earlier work on Innovation Districts was instrumental in helping us determine how to build our own innovation economy here in Chattanooga.

ABOUT JEREMY NOWAK. Jeremy Nowak is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Drexel University’s Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation. He created The Reinvestment Fund, one of the nation’s largest community investment institutions, and chaired the Board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.
