Chatham Music Club presents their 2022 Gala - Classical Showstoppers!
About this event
Classical music fans are invited to come celebrate the return of the Chatham Music Club’s spring gala on Sunday, June 26th. The concert will feature the Club’s signature mix of professional and amateur musicians. Beloved local performers will present music for piano, flute, violin, viola, cello, and voice from the 1600s to the present day. The new pipe organ at St. Christopher’s church will even shift out of its normal church-music role to play an orchestral transcription of Wagner’s “Pilgrim’s Chorus” from Tannhäuser.
Special guests will include the young winners of the Chatham Music Club’s Scholarship Competition, held in April. Since its founding 23 years ago in 1999, the Chatham Music Club has given away over $46,000 in scholarships to local students to further their classical music education. This annual performance by student musicians at their peak has been a delight to audiences.
Classical Showstoppers will take place at St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church, 625 Main Street, in Chatham on Sunday, June 26 from 3-4:30 pm. Tickets-- $25, or free for students—may be purchased at the door, or at Eventbrite.com.
The Chatham Music Club, founded in 1999, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote classical music through performance and education. In addition to the semi-annual concerts and the scholarship program, Club members organize a salon-style performance in private homes each month during the season.
