Description

Chatbots and AI: An Introduction and Build-Your-Own-Bot’ with Data Bot Box’s Jennifer Davis and Bitfusion’s Pierce Spitler

While chatbots are all the rage and are popping up everywhere, not all chatbots are built the same. Conversational Informatics is the group of techniques by which chatbots are made, well, conversant. Some chatbots are better conversers or more intuitive than others dependent on the use cases, data used to train, and many other factors.

With the advent of AI frameworks such as Tensorflow, Caffe, and MXNet, and pay-as-you-go GPU compute from Amazon, Google, and others, building an AI-Driven Chatbot is more popular than ever.

In this talk we discuss the three main approaches used to build chatbots, i.e. generative dialog, narrative dialog, and intent-driven dialog, as well as tools on which to build chatbots (such as Bitfusion).

Curriculum

This session covers deployment strategies for serving a Python-based, artificially intelligent chatbot using a generative dialog type of chatbot with open source data from Reddit’s famous ‘Shower Thoughts’.

The goal is to show the audience how to use open source data to create a generative dialog chatbot, as well as cover increasingly complex development strategies. Throughout, we will consider the other options that could be taken for chatbot dialog preference, and how to keep the bot architecture flexible for cross-platform development.

Prerequisites
