To kick off National Small Business Week, join us for an intimate conversation with one of Austin’s dynamic entrepreneurs, ABC Home and Commercial Services owner and CEO, Bobby Jenkins. Local KVUE news anchor and reporter, Jenni Lee, will open up discussions with Jenkins as he covers the journey of the original ABC Pest Control brand to its expansion as a full-service company with over 800 employees throughout the state. Jenkins attributes the growth of his business on great customer services, building trust, and leveraging those relationships.

Following the discussion, the 6th Annual City of Austin Small Business Awards will recognize entrepreneurial excellence in our community.



A free continental breakfast will be provided. Check out other sessions offered by the City of Austin Small Business Program in celebration of National Small Business Week.

Bobby Jenkins

In 2017, Jenkins was named Austinite of the Year by the Austin Chamber of Commerce. Jenkins and his family are also the force behind the Moss Pieratt Foundation, which was created after the unexpected death of his 1-year-old grandson. The Foundation’s purpose is to raise funds and awareness to find a cause or cure for the sudden unexplained death in children over the age of 12 months.

Lee joined the KVUE news team in 2015 as the Weekend Daybreak anchor and weekday reporter. The veteran journalist has worked in the Austin TV market since 2001. Even before graduating from the University of Texas, she started her career in 1994. Lee has been recognized for work by many organizations including Texas Associated Press of Broadcasters, Lone Star Emmy Chapter and in 2017 received the Edward R. Murrow Award.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Pay for parking is available in Austin Public Library underground parking garage. This first hour is free. The entrance is located on West Avenue. Please take the southernmost elevator (closest to Cesar Chavez St.) from either P1 or P2 to the 1st Floor of the Central Library. The Special Event Center is through the doors to your left when you exit the elevator facing Cesar Chavez Street. Parking is also available at City Hall, 301 W. 2nd Street. The first half hour is free.

In case the Central Library’s parking garage is full, the nearest public parking is available in the Seaholm District. You may use either metered street parking along Power Plant Dr. or the parking garage with entrance located on Walter Seaholm Dr.

Where is the Special Events Center located in the Austin Central Library?

The Special Event Center is located on the 1st floor of the Central Library. There is a direct, exterior entrance via the Special Event door located on the Cesar Chavez St. / south side of the building.
