What is Lake Merritt? An estuary? a lake? a city facility? A refuge? Paleontologist Dr. Jere Lipps will discuss the biology of estuaries, mudflats, and marshes he has studied nearby (the Russian River, Salmon Creek, Bodega Bay Harbor, Tomales Bay,AND Richmond marsh) and around the world (Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, New Guinea and Antarctica) to place "Lagoon Merritt" and its biology in a comparative sense in space and time.
Dr. Lipps is the author of a book about Lake Merritt (see cover below) to be released soon in the Images of America series.
