Event description

Description

Please join the US Attorney's Office of the Middle District of Florida, FBI and DEA representatives, Brevard County Sheriff's Office and the Brevard County Health Department for the screening of "Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict" documentary produced by the FBI and DEA, on Wedneday, October 18, 2017. The event will begin at 9:30am and will include the screening of the film followed by a panel discussion with experts from the FBI and DEA. After the panel discussion, there will be a training that will focus on identifying the signs, symptoms and strategies connected with substance abuse in the social services field as well as the community.

The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of drug abuse and the profound downward spiral that can be caused by opiate addiction. The documentary content has been provided by actual people who abused opiates or whose children abused opiates. They selflessly shared their unfiltered, impassioned, unscripted, and painful accounts to try to stop other people from taking drugs and destroying lives. This is a free event. We will also provide refreshments, a DVD copy of the Chasing the Dragon documentary and drug prevention materials that can be used in the classroom and the community.

Seating is limited so please register as soon as possible. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday October 18, 2017 at 9:30am.
