Event Details

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools is looking to expand it's teacher workforce.  Don't miss the biggest hiring event of the year!  More than 160 schools will be interviewing and selecting candidates for licensed/certified positions including, teachers, media specialists and school counselors.  We welcome candidates from both in and out of state.

We will not be staffing for school administration (Principals and Assistant Principals), central office, auxiliary, or unlicensed positions during this event.  Additionally, this event is not a transfer fair for internal (CMS) teachers - full time internal teachers are not eligible for this event.

FAQs

What should I bring to the event?

All candidates should bring multiple copies of their resume and dress professionally.

If you are a lateral entry candidate, please bring a copy of your official college/university transcripts for an eligibility review.  We do not accept transcripts on mobile devices.  Transcripts should be attached to your application and we strongly encourage you to bring a printed copy to the event.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Email recruiter@cms.k12.nc.us with any questions or give us a call (980) 343-1848.  We are unable to answer emails or phone calls on the day of the event.  The event will happen rain or shine.

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Your registration is not transferrable as we collect unique data during the registration process.  Each candidate should have a separate registration. It is to your advantage to register in advance even if your plans change and you are unable to come the day of the event.

Can I update my registration information?

Yes! If your information has changed, please log in to your Eventbright account and update.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please bring either your printed ticket or a mobile device that we may scan with your event confirmation/QR code.

I'm coming from out-of-town, where should I stay?

If you need a hotel during your stay in Charlotte, we have secured a discounted rate of $104/night at Courtyard Charlotte Airport/Billy Graham Parkway.  Book your group rate for CMS Job Fair by visiting http://bit.ly/CMShotel - the hotel does have shuttle service to/from the airport but does not provide transportation to the event.  You may consider meeting others in the lobby to carpool and using Uber, Lyft, or Taxi service.  Taxi service should run around $25 each way.  We do not facilitate transportation or make recomendations for any hotel or car service.

What is Lateral Entry?

Lateral Entry is an alternative pathway to licensure.  It is not for candidates who have completed an approved education program and student-teaching.  It is for candidates who have degrees in areas other than education.  If you are a lateral entry candidate, you are not guaranteed entry into the event.  We must do a review of your official transcripts to determine eligibility.

I am a lateral entry candidate.  Are their any special instructions?  How do I know if I qualify?

If you are a Lateral Entry/Alternative Licensure candidate (your degree is not in a Teacher Education Program) you must upload all of your official degree dated transcript(s) ordered from the university to your application in the “Attachments” section for evaluation. If you have taken the Praxis II or Pearson exams attach those to your application.

CMS will host a pre-screening event for lateral entry candidates of Friday, April 28 at Herbert Spaugh Administrative Building (1901 Herbert Spaugh Lane, Charlotte, NC) from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. You must bring your original transcripts with you to this event.  A review of your transcript(s) will be done to determine your preliminary eligibility for lateral entry.  If it is determined that you are not eligible, unfortunately you will not receive a ticket to enter the fair.  Note: transcripts will not be viewed on mobile devices.

If you are unable to attend the pre-screening event on Friday, we will screen additional transcrips the day of the event on a first-come basis.  Please be aware that this line will be long and move slowly the day of the event, limiting your time inside the fair.  We highly recommend that you get pre-screened on Friday.
