About this event
Come as we Spotlight Charlie Parker with sight, sound, eats and beverages. Experience our 2022 Artists in Residence, Houston Smith & Morgan Faw. Joining Houston and Morgan will be a trio of 2022 Fellows from the Kansas City Area Youth Jazz: Ari Staggs (piano), Isaac Peters (bass), Maurice Butler (drums). Then learn about “Charlie Parker’s Kansas City” from an panel of experts, moderated by Chuck Haddix, featuring Lisa Henry, Clarence Smith, and Jason Roe. Jason is the KC Library’s digital history specialists, and will present his new website creation, “charlieparkerskc.org”.
Doors open and music begins at 5:15, with the panel discussion at 6:00. The Truman Auditorium is on the lower level of the Plaza Library at 4801 Main Street. Plentiful free parking in the adjacent parking garage.
