Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus Spring Concert

The Spring Concert conducted by Dr. Robert Taylor will conclude the season's offerings with a repertoire beautifully suited to the skills and vocal range of the Chorus as well as the beautiful acoustics of Grace Episcopal Church. Rejoice in the Lamb by Benjamin Britten will be sung by the select CSO Chorus Chamber singers. Rejoice in the Lamb is a cantata for four soloists, chorus, and organ based on the poem Jubilate Agno by Christopher Smart. The poem depicts idiosyncratic praise and worship of God by all created beings and things, each in its own way.

The full chorus will sing Frostiana, seven country songs composed by Randall Thompson based on the poetry of Robert Frost. Composed in 1959 under commission from the city of Amherst, Massachusetts, the seven poems include The Road Not Taken, The Pasture, Come In, The Telephone, A Girl's Garden, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, and Chose Something Like a Star.

The full chorus will conclude the program with selections from The Peaceable Kingdom by Randall Thompson using texts from the book of Isaiah and inspired by the paintings of Edward Hicks.
