Description
Royalty Will Be Crowned in Queens
Sink your teeth into the best of the best charcuterie as artisans—makers of sausages, patés, hams, salumi, and more—gather once again to vie for top honors at the fifth annual Charcuterie Masters. Enjoy unlimited tasting of more than 60 varieties of charcuterie, including sumptuous Portuguese Alentejano ham from Rodrigo Duarte who will also be doing a butchery demonstration of this forerunner to the pig that produces Spain’s famed jamon de pata negra.
This year's lineup is as diverse as Queens itself with China, France, Greece, Italy, Korea, Portugal, and Spain all represented. Spain and Italy will be represented by Despaña and Casella's Salumi, respectively. In a nod to his Chinese roots Chef Stephen Yen of Tao Downtown (Manhattan) will prepare roast pork bao while Chef Anastacia Song of American Cut (Manhattan) will pay tribute to her Korean heritage as well as New York City itself with pastrami spiced bacon candy with fennel kimchi.
Like what you taste? You can also purchase charcuterie on site. This year’s festival also features a giant Charcuterie Board which will be available for your instagramming and eating pleasure. There will also be a selection of exquisite cheeses, including Cheddars from Vermont’s very own Cabot Creamery, Champlain Valley Creamery, and Blue Ledge Farm.
Meet the charcutiers and taste exquisite dishes prepared by top NYC chefs, including Chef Anastacia Song of American Cut (Manhattan) Pitmaster Josh Bowen of John Brown Smokehouse (Long Island City Queens), Chef Alfonso Zhicay of Casa del Chef Bistro (Woodside, Queens), Chef Hugue Dufour of M. Wells Steakhouse (Long Island City) Chef Stephen Yen of Tao Downtown (Manhattan), Chef Giuseppe Viterale of Ornella Trattoria (Astoria, Queens), and Chef Serafim Ferdeklis (BZ Grill, Astoria). Fine libations include Trappist ales from Chimay, premium wines from Rooftop Reds, and crisp ciders from Brooklyn Cider House.
VIP guests will have access to the entire festival one hour earlier and exclusive access to the Charcuterie Masters VIP Experience, which includes exclusive charcuterie selections from Muncan Food Corp., a jamon carving workshop, a pasta making workshop from Hungry Pop, and refreshing libations from Kismet cocktails.
In addition to the prestigious Charcuterie Masters Awards there will be a People's Choice Awards where attendees will be able to vote for their favorite charcuterie booth and restaurant!
