About this event
The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation is proud to present the return of Chanteuse: Celebrating New Orleans Women in Music, our concert series featuring outstanding women vocalists, at the George and Joyce Wein Jazz & Heritage Center (1225 N. Rampart Street).
Kicking off the series on Friday, March 4 is Kristin Diable, a New Orleans-based songwriter and artist whose sound is as mysterious as it is familiar. Her last release, "Create Your Own Mythology," (recorded in Nashville with producer Dave Cobb) was applauded by NPR, American Songwriter and Southern Living as one of the best of the year.
Tickets are $5. Doors open at 7pm and the concert begins promptly at 8pm. Seating is limited, so please register in advance. All proceeds from this concert series directly support efforts of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, including the Music Relief Fund.
All performances will be livestreamed: jazzandheritage.org/live

About Kristin Diable:
A southern original, Kristin Diable's voice bends as whimsical and unyielding as the Mississippi River, as her timeless melodies and lyrics channel the mystical within the everyday, the transcendent silver lining within the ordinary, weaving an intricate web of singularity that is Diable's calling card. Along with her band, The City, highlight performances over the last years include sold-out intimate listening rooms and theaters to Austin City Limits Festival, New Orleans Jazz Fest and many stops in between. Beyond the stage, songs from her studio have been featured on television shows including CBS primetime’s Hawaii-Five-O, MacGyver, and Magnum PI, Amazon's original One Mississippi (Tig Notaro), HBO's True Blood and Treme, Netflix’s Virgin River and more. On-screen, Diable co-wrote and starred in the award winning short-film “Forever Waves” and most recently, was recruited as a judge for the New Orleans based CBS TV show “Sing Like a Star,” hosted by Arthel Neville. Alongside fellow Louisiana legacy artists, Terence Simien and Marc Broussard, she mentored and supported other artists in finding their unique voices on stage. As a devout supporter of arts access across social barriers, she participates with programs to support youth and progress in New Orleans. Most recently, she performed for Son of a Saint’s yearly gala (supporting full circle mentorship for fatherless boys), taught a songwriting class to elementary school students through Upturn Arts, and dedicated proceeds from the band’s “Magnolia” single to The Roots of Music education program. Kristin is currently taking time off from the long road to welcome her daughter Lucinda into the world, while working on new songs for an anticipated follow up album set for release in 2021.
