This year was difficult for many in education and social justice work. The election cycle exposed extreme divisions between communities and we saw continued official violence against people of color.
It is clear that the work of fighting for educational and social equity has never been more important. We may be unsure of our future, but there is a need for us to come together and build towards the future we want to leave for the students we teach, taught, and raised.
Let's find ways to double our efforts in the work of fighting for educational equity for all students. As we come to the close of 2016, it’s important for us to continue developing ourselves into the leaders we want to be - the leaders our communities need.
To help continue the conversation of building a movement, join with other community and education leaders at a unique event featuring the Dave Fleischer, a veteran organizer and advocate in the LGBTQ movement for equality and expert in working across lines of difference.
We'll also devote time during the meeting to getting to know each other and talking about plans for organizing next year.
