About this event

  • Event lasts 2 days 17 hours

Gather with a small group in Work With Grace offices for 3 days in mindful self-inquiry. This offers a way for anyone, even a beginner, a way to identify the painful story you're telling, take it through a process of answering four questions, and seeing new ways to work with your predicament or issue.

No problem is too big or too small for The Work of Byron Katie. Beginner to experienced all are welcome. Grace is a long-time experienced facilitator of The Work who can artfully guide you into finding your own answers.

Thursday evening arrive at 6:15pm to give time to settle in, we begin at 6:30pm. (You may want to eat an early supper before arriving).

Friday we meet 9:30am (arrive any time after 9:15am), lunch break approximately 12:30-2:30pm (excellent variety of choices right across the street at Third Place Books and the Lake Forest Park town center). Afternoon session 2:30-5:00pm. Dinner 5:00-6:30pm. Saturday morning we begin at 8:30am and there will be a special outing for a somatic movement conscious "dance" from 10am-Noon, followed by a lunch break on your own.

This is always a loving, kind, accepting group. No one has to share or reveal details of anything you prefer to keep private. We are questioning stressful concepts and stories, and finding new ways to be with people, ourselves and life.

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to bring?

Many like to bring a journal, and a pen. You will however be provided with worksheets and all the materials you need to do this work.

Can I attend only part of the day-long session?

No. This format is structured to give you the gift of community support, a one-day intensive in the process, and the opportunity to dig into a stressful story you've been running within.

If I drive from a far distance, is there a place to spend the night nearby?

Yes, Grace can guide you to some cute little residential airbnb's nearby, and also a hotel about 4 miles away, that you'll find adequate and comfortable. Some people enjoy coming the night before into the area, to make the day super easy and flowing. There are lots of restaurants and groceries near.

Do I have to go to lunch during the lunch break?

Our cozy retreat gathering space isn't set up for eating or taking a break, but you can find lots of open tables right across the street, and also a Starbucks only one block away with comfy chairs. Some people also enjoy walking the Burke Gilman trail during lunch break.

Can I bring my sack lunch?

Yes! While you won't eat your lunch in our gathering space, you are welcome to sit on the porch of Grace's cottage (the street side building), hang out on the deck if the weather is nice (lots of seating). You are welcome to store your lunch in the refrigerator inside Grace's house.

What kind of food is available nearby for lunch?

Honey Bear bakery (organic ingredients, salads, sandwiches, soups, some vegetarian). Food court restaurants: Greek, Japanese. Indian/Tibetan food at Everest Kitchen. Lake Forest Park Bar and Grill. Juice bar. Albertson's Grocery Store. Starbucks. All are located directly across the street.

What kinds of issues can be "worked" on or brought to The Work?

There is no issue too large, or too small. Relationship trouble, money fears, worry about the body (disease, weight, pain), family of origin suffering, anything causing resentment, anger, fear, sadness or disappointment. Any situation that reliably causes stress in your life is welcomed to this work
