Event description

Description

The finale event to YEG's Fashion Revolution Week, Change of Clothes helps Edmontonians make loved clothes last. Join us at 11 a.m. for Transcend coffee and an interactive panel discussion with four local leaders who want your help building an ethical apparel community; stay on from 12 - 4 p.m. for food truck lunch, Donut Party dessert, and a chance to extend the life of your wardrobe by swapping, mending, upcycling, and donating your clothes.

You'll want to bring:

  • For donation to Bissell Centre - gently used, clean, non-stained clothing/shoes/accessories in bags or boxes for men, women, or kids.
  • For donation to Suit Yourself - gently used, clean, non-stained women's professional attire (on hangers if possible, please!)
  • For clothing swap - up to five items of women's clothing/shoes/accessories (and unlimited men's and kids' - help us grow our dudes' and kidlets' sections!). Must be clean, unstained, and ready to wear.
  • For DIY upcycling & skills workshops - an old t-shirt for cutting up; any items needing buttons sewn back on; any items needing drawstrings re-threaded. Your instructor, Nicole, is willing to get crafty and teach any other basic mending skill - bring your project with you.
  • For repairathon (12-3 p.m.) - up to two clean items that need simple repairs (holes patched, pant hems shortened, zippers repaired). Please BYOZipper!

Thank you in advance to our wonderful event partners Bissell Centre, Suit Yourself, swapping queens Vesica+Flo, upcycling maven Nicole A Go Go at Vertigogo Designs, and the tireless sewing experts at YEG Repairathon.
