Event description

Description

CHAMPS: A proactive and positive approach to classroom management. This course helps teachers design (or fine tune) a classroom management system by organizing classrooms for student success, specifying classroom behavioral expectations, and reducing misbehavior (disruptions, disrespect, non-compliance). This approach to behavior has been shown to increase academic engagement resulting in improved test scores by empowering and motivating students. CHAMPS provides teachers and students with a common language about behaviors, and teachers will be better prepared to design behavioral plans that fit their personal styles and the needs of their students. Teachers will learn how to teach students to behave responsibly and how to instill a desire in their students to be productive and positive contributors. Built on respect for the dignity and worth of every child, our strategies are effective because they are data-driven and grounded in the most current research. (Materials provided)
