Event description

Description

Approximately $160,000 of grants will be awarded to groups through a program called the Champlain Valley National Heritage Partnership, or CVNHP. While Bennington and Manchester are not normally associated with Lake Champlain, the entire Shires region is able to tap into these grant funds through the work of The Shires of Vermont Destination Marketing Organization (The Shires DMO), now recently coming under the umbrella of the Bennington Regional Chamber of Commerce serving The Shires of Vermont.

Typically these grants range from $2500 to $7500, with larger special projects also being funded on a case by case basis. Because these funds are already matched by the State of Vermont, the usual 20% match typical of most grants from federal sources is not needed. The initial application is just two pages, and a CVNHP coordinator is available to assist you if you are interested in applying. Applicants must be a non-profit organization (including educational organizations) or a town/municipality.

To learn more about grants available through the CVNHP, we invite you to the next regular meeting of The Shires DMO on August 29, at the Arlington Inn, at 9:30 am. There will be a presentation on the grants available and the process to apply by Assistant Director of the CVNHP Jim Brangan. To RSVP, please sign up at this EventBrite page. There is no cost to attending this meeting. Coffee will be provided.
