Event Details

Chameleon is Southwest Florida’s premier party and dance band. Started in 1997, Chameleon has been entertaining and captivating audiences at all of the most popular Bay Area nightclubs with its powerful mix of current dance hits, rock, R&B and pop.

 

BRANDON SOMMERS - VOCALS, KEYBOARDS, GUITAR

 

From Indianapolis, Indiana, Brandon moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1981 after completing his B. A. from Indiana University. He has performed with various dance bands including Rough Diamond, where he won a songwriting contest. Brandon performed with The Instigators (reggae), and then went on to play with contemporary jazz artist Richy Kicklighter for five years. He played on “KINGS HIGHWAY”, “MYAKKA” and “ONE SUN, ONE MOON” and most recently produced and played on "MOVING SKIES" and "UNKNOWN" at his studio. Brandon has also performed with guitarist Les Sabler and dance band Omni. In addition to playing with Chameleon, he also composes and does sound design and recording for independent films.

 

WILLY D. SLOAN - VOCALS, GUITAR

 

From Lakeland, Florida, Willy graduated from the University of Florida. He played guitar and sang with the North Florida Gulf Coast favorite band Drop for several years. He then performed with the band Black Eyed Blonde before moving to the Sarasota area to join up with Chameleon. An accomplished guitarist and sound engineer, he also is adept at customizing guitars, amps and repairing electronics.

 

CURTIS WEEKS - DRUMS, VOCALS

 

From Sarasota, FL, Curtis started playing drums at 17. Immediately he started working in two different dance bands, Fragile and The Chaz Band over four years touring the east coast from Florida to New York. He then performed with the Roger Atlas Quintet opening for Spyro Gyra. Curtis then played contemporary jazz and fusion music with Tampa Bay bands Break Away 83-85, Fred Johnson 88-92, Citiheat 92-99. While working with Johnson, he performed on the CD with Afro-Cuban percussionist Gumbi Ortiz entitled “So Now You Know.” Curtis is also the areas renowned private drum instructor here in Sarasota.
