About this event

Chamber Music Quad Cities opens its 30th season with an afternoon of beautiful music from the 19th Century. We feature music of Franz Schubert. Two wonderful musicians from the University of Iowa, Elizabeth Oakes and Volkan Orhon, make it possible to present Schubert's "Trout" Quintet, a piece that deploys one each of instruments of the violin family plus the piano. His lovely Notturno (Nocturne) opens the program. An amusing duo for cello and bass by Rossini--much better known as an operatic composer--and the C-Minor Violin Sonata by the Norwegian Edvard Grieg complete the afternoon's offerings. The brilliant Chinese-American violinist Mira Wang, new to the Quad Cities, is our guest violinist.
