Challenging Racism: White Affirmative Action

Sunday, December 3 at 5:30 PM

TRS Lens on Race has invited Marty Swaim, co-founder of Challenging Racism Arlington to lead an interactive facilitated presentation and discussion about “White Affirmative Action.” It will identify and discuss actions by the federal government from the New Deal though the the GI Bill, which supported segregation and white privilege in housing and other areas, and set a pattern of denial of opportunity to people of color that has had generational effects, particularly on family net worth. Reporter and author Ira Katznelson calls this time “When Affirmative Action Was White.” Space is limited.
