Description

Chalkbeat and the Morgridge College of Education Present:

A Conversation with Paul Tough

In his wide-ranging new book, The Years That Matter Most: How College Makes or Breaks Us, author Paul Tough follows the twisting paths of first-generation college students and turns a critical eye on the institutions that too often stand in their way. Higher education is supposed to be a meritocracy, but Tough repeatedly finds that opportunity is most available to those who already have a leg up. Join Tough and Chalkbeat Colorado bureau chief Erica Meltzer as they discuss why more colleges are eschewing standardized tests, how structural barriers make it hard for colleges to diversify, and why college still matters.
