Cha in the City Surrey, BC: Open Space for Punjabi Men
Overview
Cha in the City Surrey: Open Space for Punjabi Men
Location: Surrey Libraries – City Centre Branch - Room 405
What is this group about?
Taraki and Prem are partnering to support Punjabi men in Surrey. We believe that a key avenue towards positive health and wellbeing is through conversation and connection. We are proud to be launching our monthly open spaces in Surrey for Punjabi men to discuss topics we don't usually talk about!
Group Details:
This is an inclusive space for:
- Punjabi Men of all faith backgrounds (Sikh, Muslim, Hindu, Christian) and those with no religious affiliation
- Our open group provides a safe environment to discuss topics often left unspoken, encouraging participants to listen, learn, and share experiences. Everyone is welcome to contribute or simply listen and connect.
What to expect?
Each month we will focus on a particular topic of importance and relevance.
In this session, we will be doing an End of year reflection. We will consider the following questions:
1) What do we hope to see from such spaces for Punjabi men?
2) How do we want to create safe inclusive spaces for Punjabi men in Surrey?
In our sessions we always aim to provide a safe space to both listen and share.
Our format usually involves:
- Introductions and Group Responsibilities
- Short Grounding Exercise
- Breakout Discussions
- Large Group Discussion
- Group Feedback and Ending
Thoughts can be shared, questions asked, or you can simply listen – there is no obligation to share your experiences, should you choose not to.
Anonymous feedback is always encouraged at the end of the session, so we can continuously improve the group sessions.
