Gymnastics Sessions with Coach Steve Maki
Do you want to improve your gymnastics skills? Do you intend to work on your gymnastics skills during your free time but never actually do? Are you ready to make a dedicated effort to improve your body awareness and movement patterns?
If you answered yes to the previous questions, then we have the right program for you!
CrossFit Inner Loop will host Gymnastics Sessions with Coach Steve Maki beginning on Wednesday November 2. All skill levels are welcome and each session will develop and enhance the individual athletes’ overall gymnastics competence.
Sessions will run for six (6) weeks and will consist of one (1), one (1) hour class per week.
Cost: $100 per athlete/session (6 classes – November 2 through December 14 – **no class November 23, Thanksgiving week**)
Each class will include skill work, volume work, and a gymnastics based WOD that will complement CFIL’s regular programming. Classes will be the same for all skill levels; however, movements will be scaled up or down based on the individual’s capabilities (as determined by the coach – not the individual).
Skills that will be addressed include (but are not limited to):
- Basic body awareness and movement through space
- Beat swing/kipping/pull-ups/muscle-ups
- Hand balancing/free-standing handstands (walking)/handstand push-ups
- Assistance work for strength building
- Rope climbs
By the end of each session, athletes should understand new and effective ways to scale movements based on his or her abilities, develop the ability to select proper assistance work for specific skills, and should be able to identify a path to gymnastics success.*
* The development of proficiency in any skill is dependent on the athlete; results may vary.
Sessions will be limited to twelve (12) athletes with a minimum of six (6) athletes required for the session to be held. Deadline to register is FRIDAY OCTOBER 28.**
** If the minimum requirement of 6 athletes is met by the registration deadline, additional athletes (up to 12) may continue to register until one (1) day prior to the second (2nd) scheduled class. No discounts or refunds will be provided for late registration or missed classes. “Tickets” for session alternates will be available in case another athlete needs to drop out before the start of the session.
