Houston Chowhounds' Ceviche Throwdown & Fundraiser for Gulf Coast Fisherman Relief

Come watch as ten of our local top chefs throwdown to make Houston's best ceviche dish. The amateur cooking competition also gets a deep chill with a Battle Gazpacho competition.  Take something home from the silent auction.  Whether it's a chef's tasting for four, a private wine event for 20 hosted in your home, or a gourmet experience of a lifetime, your contribution will help fishermen and their families left unfortunate by the oil spill in the Gulf. 

Our fundraising goal is to raise $10,000 between ticket sales and the silent auction!

Eat.  Each competing chef will be preparing bites of their ceviche for event guests to enjoy.  Soma Sushi's executive chef Jason Hauck will also be preparing a dazzling array of hot and cold dishes including:

Togarashi Crispy Crab w/ Smoked Jalapeno Emulsion & Yuzu Kewpie

Akaushi Short Rib w/ Goat Cheese & Bulgogi

Shiso wrapped O-toro w/ Avocado & Chives

Raindrop Farms Heirloom Tomato Salad - sanbaizu, fresh made local tofu, shiso, maldon sea salt

Char Siu Berkshire Ribs - Sticky BBQ sauce, bean sprounts, scallions

Chilled Somen Noodle Salad - shrimp, pickled Fresno peppers, cilantro, kaiware, carrot

Warm Vegetable Byaldi

Steamed Sesame Basmati Rice

Drink.  Enjoy complimentary wine from Fleischer Wines. Full cash bar will also be available for cocktails, beer, sake, and other wine.

Silent Auction.  The Houston Chowhounds will be hosting a silent auction for the first time in the organization's history.  The auction will start online on July 12, one week before the event date.  Please check back for a link to the online silent auction. The priceless gourmet experiences and larger donations will end with a live silent auction at the throwdown.  The guilty pleasure is all the proceeds go to a great cause.

 Tickets are $60 and include a souvenir event t-shirt.  Please specify t-shirt size for each attendee when purchasing tickets.  You also have the option of prepurchasing a $5 Ceviche & Gazpacho electronic cookbook (which will be emailed to you a few weeks after the event) with proceeds benefiting Recipe for Success.

Tickets are non-refundable, but transferable.  Save a tree!  Electronic tickets do not need to be printed out and presented at the event.
