HYSN Training Announcement:

How a Trauma-Informed Approach Improves Juvenile Justice and Public Health Systems Responses

CEUs NOW AVAILABLE!

This training has been approved for 4.0 CEUs for social workers, certified substance abuse counselors and psychologists.

Cost is $25 per person.

Although prevalence estimates vary, there is consensus that high percentages of individuals involved in mental health, child welfare, and criminal justice systems have experienced serious trauma throughout their lifetime. The impact of traumatic experiences can challenge a person’s capacity for recovery and pose significant barriers to accessing services when dealing with the effects of untreated trauma, like substance abuse.

How a Trauma-Informed Approach Improves Juvenile Justice and Public Health Systems Responses is a training program for system professionals to increase understanding of trauma, create an awareness of the impact of trauma on behavior, improve system responses when professionals are impacted by vicarious trauma, and develop trauma-informed responses.

This highly-interactive training is tailored to human service professionals such as mental health providers, substance abuse counselors, community corrections (probation, parole, and pre-trial service officers).

Speaker: Tia L. Roberts Hartsock

A certified trainer by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) GAINS Center for Behavioral Health and Justice Transformation, which is nationally known for its work in regard to people with behavioral health needs involved in the criminal justice system.
