According to the Alzheimer’s Association 1 in 9 people in the United States ages 65 and older have been diagnosed with the disease and millions more are suffering with other forms of dementia. As a healthcare professional serving seniors, you undoubtedly have already encountered the challenges of providing the best care possible to those with these behavioral health challenges. But what are some practical ways to provide better care, communication, and appropriate intervention when needed for people with dementia?

In this interactive and practical session, participants will learn:

  • New strategies for managing difficult behaviors of those with dementia

About the Presenter...

Janelle M. Johnson, LSW, JD
Janelle Johnson is a dementia care specialist who has been working in the field of aging services since 1989. Her career has focused primarily on the care of those with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. She has a law degree from the University of Minnesota and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from the College of St. Catherine, which, combined with her years of experience in this field, make her an outstanding advocate for advancing best practices in Alzheimer’s Care. She has been instrumental in developing the SEEDS OF SUCCESS Memory Care Program at Elmore Assisted Living.
