Just imagine being trained to become an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ in Chandler, Arizona, a suberb of Phoenix, with its revitalized historic downtown, which includes the award-winning Chandler City Hall and a Center for the Arts. Computer chip manufacturer Intel has an influential role in city growth strategies with four locations in the municipal area.. This phenomenal 8-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Certification Course™, a two-month, two-part program, contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the prestigious  ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™ designation. It starts with the 2-Day ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ held on-site at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Chandler Hotel on March 10th – 11th, from 9:00am to 5:30pm.

The 8-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course™ starts the following week involving home study.  Apart from giving you an overall perspective of Tea as a Global drink, registrants will have the opportunity to taste and evaluate teas from all around the Globe: Green teas from China, Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii and India. You will also get to familiarize yourself with Green Teas,  Oolongs, Whites, Darjeelings and Blacks. This will be followed by tasting and evaluating a Mystery Tea, a Report (oral or written) on a topic assigned by ITMA, and a Final Examination ($95 Examination Fee).

The course holds the high level of focus and support needed to gain the competence and confidence to serve as a distinguished tea sommelier at any upscale restaurant, hotel, or tea business, or expand or start one’s own successful tea business.

emiko_200hThe training will be led by ITMA Certified Tea  Master™   Emiko  C. Doi, who has a strong background in the tea industry and expertise in the Japanese and Chinese tea ceremonies. She promises to make this an especially memorable, life-changing experience for everyone.

Accommodations are available at the Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Chandler Hotel (2490 West Queen Creek Road, Chandler, AZ, 85248, 866-209-9122) only 18 miles from Phoenix. Room rates starts at $199 per night (free hot breakfast). The 2-Day ITMA  Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Course™ will be held in a conference room at the hotel, which accommodate up to 10 registrants. Seating is limited.

The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier designation once the program, blind tea tasting, oral or written dissertation, and final examination are successfully completed.

Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite and often rarest loose-leaf teas from around the world. The training will also include: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.

Phoenician_Lobby-Tea CourtRegistrants will also get to experience the pleasures of Afternoon Tea at the prestigious Phoenician Scottsdale Luxury Collection – Lobby Tea Court, a short distance from the Home2 Suites by Hilton Phoenix Chandler.

Tuition for the training program is $1,475 for association members ($1,725 for nonmembers), plus $52 for Afternoon TeaTo register, post a US$250 non-refundable tuition-deposit using the button below. The tuition balance will be invoiced to registrants by e-mail  and must be paid by February 24, 2017.

Part 2 (Home Study)

Tea Evaluations – Multiple Steepings (In Part 2 of the training, registrants will taste and evaluate two selected teas in each of the nine categories below (18 teas total), as well as learn the history and background of each tea, and preparation instructions using the ITMA recommended tasting and evaluation protocol).

Homework assignments include tasting and evaluating the 18 tea samples provided following the ITMA recommended tasting and evaluation protocol.

 

Participants are provided a copy of the ITMA Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Training Manual™ on the first day of class, and a copy of the ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course Training Manual™ will be distributed on the last day of class in preparation for the start of the ITMA Tea Mastery Tasting Course™. Following the completion of the teas in the ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course Training Manual™, registrants will taste and evaluate a Mystery Tea, followed by a Dissertation, and Final Examination.

 Upon course completion, graduates will receive an ITMA Certificate of Completion.
