Description

The Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM) course is a two-day, entry-level course taught by a Certified Scrum Trainer®. The CSM course is designed to cover all the basics of Scrum so you can begin to fulfill the Scrum Master role.

A Certified ScrumMaster® helps project teams properly use Scrum, increasing the likelihood of the project’s overall success. CSMs understand Scrum values, practices, and applications and provide a level of knowledge and expertise above and beyond that of typical project managers. CSMs act as “servant leaders,” helping the rest of the Scrum team work together and learn the Scrum framework. CSMs also protect the team from both internal and external distractions.

  • Helping the Product Owner maintain the Product Backlog in a way that ensures the needed work is well understood so the team can continually make forward progress

  • Helping the team to determine the definition of done for the product, with input from key stakeholders

  • Coaching the team, within the Scrum principles, in order to deliver high-quality features for its product

  • Promoting self-organization within the team

  • Helping the Scrum Team to avoid or remove impediments to its progress, whether internal or external to the team

  • Facilitating team events to ensure regular progress

  • Educating key stakeholders in the product on Scrum principles

  • Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality

In the CSM course, you will learn about:

  • Scrum basics and core values

  • How the Scrum framework compares to other methods, such as waterfall

  • How to identify when to use Scrum

  • A Scrum team’s three roles and responsibilities

  • Scrum meetings, including the Sprint Review, Sprint Retrospective and Release Planning

  • Sprint Backlog and Product Backlog

  • Scrum artefacts, including the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Burn down Charts.
